Veterans History Project

APH Partners with the Library of Congress

The Veterans History Project (VHP) honors American war veterans by preserving stories of their service to our country in World War I, World War II, the wars in Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf, and the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The VHP also collect stories of civilians who supported these efforts, including men and women who worked in defense-related industries, as USO entertainers, and as Red Cross workers. The VHP relies on volunteers throughout the nation to record these veterans’ stories. Volunteer APH members are helping to record those first person narratives by wartime veterans.

The stories are then collected at the Library of Congress, and are made available to researchers and the public. For more information, visit the Libary of Congress website: LOC Veterans History Project

In addition to compiling a unique archive for scholars, The Veterans History Project is a unique opportunity for Americans of all ages and backgrounds to play an important role in the preservation of our national collective memory and to learn important lessons from the rich historical resource we have in our military veterans and civilians who served in support of the war effort.

If you want to work with local APH members to record those stories, contact:
