June 11-12, 2004
Ethical Wills and Legacy Letters: Viable Business Offerings Kirkland, Washington
Investment: $50 (includes lunch on Saturday)

Sponsored by the Northwest region of the Association of Personal Historians, this Friday evening and Saturday workshop will discuss ethical wills and legacy letters, what they are and various approaches many of us are using to help people prepare them as a fun, simple, and rewarding way to pass their values on to family members. People attending also will develop a marketing strategy for teaching others to write ethical wills and/or offering a service of writing ethical wills for others.

We’ll have several guest speakers, including a financial planner and an estate planning attorney. They will share about how ethical wills complement their practices and how establishing a referral relationship with personal historians helps them differentiate their services from those of their competitors. We’ll also enjoy the expertise of a business consultant from the Small Business Association who will provide some marketing guidance. We'll also have ample time to share about our business experiences and learn from one another as we build fabulously successful businesses.

As a bonus, on Friday evening our own Craig Carpenter will teach us how to transfer audio recordings to CD-rom.

The workshop will be held at the Kirkland Women’s Club in Kirkland, Washington (a suburb of Seattle). The historic building is the original site of the Kirkland library. The formal program will be Friday 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Then we’ll adjourn for a no-host dinner at a fun restaurant in downtown Kirkland.

The city of Kirkland is known for its art galleries and beautiful waterfront, all within walking distance of our meeting space.

Please, join us!
