CONFERENCE UPDATECatherine Gildiner to Speak at 2002 Conference A welcome addition to the conference program is Catherine Gildiner, author of the best-selling Too Close to the Falls. Gildiner is a novelist, columnist (she writes "Ask a psychologist" for Chatelaine Magazine) screenwriter, broadcaster, clinical psychologist and member of a gold-medal rowing team. She grew up in Lewiston, New York, and now lives in Toronto, Ontario. Too Close to the Falls is a moving and sometimes hilarious memoir of her unusual childhood from ages 4 to 14. An award-winning book, it has been on the New York Times extended best sellers list as well as the Boston Globe's best sellers list. Gildiner will speak on "Accessing Childhood Memories," a topic of great interest to personal historians. Her book reveals a startling vividness and detail in her own childhood memories, according to APH conference chair Vera Rosenbluth, and as a clinical psychologist, she is skilled in eliciting those of others. This is a talk not to be missed! Catherine Gildiner will speak at the conference on Friday at 5 p.m.
