Y'all Come! The Magic of A.P.H. Conferences. If you have attended one or more past A.P.H. Networking Conferences, you already know how valuable they are in advancing your knowledge and professional skills in personal history preservation. But there's so much more to an APH conference! It's the joy of meeting your associates, sharing the excitement, experiencing the enthusiasm, building the motivation and believing in the A.P.H. magic. Our Best Conference Yet. This A.P.H. Networking Conference will truly be the biggest and best yet. With expected attendance of over 150, we have selected the elegant Omni Dallas Hotel Park West, with its world-class ambiance and service. There will be Texas-sized room for both our full group and expanded Workshop selections, while maintaining the friendliness, intimacy and charm that our members prefer and deserve. More of Everything You Want. You asked for it. We've expanded our Workshop offerings from nine last year to a total of twenty-four! Now there are topics of interest to our various interest and experience levels. We have dynamite speakers on the agenda, a larger Sunday Showcase of products and services, and even more time for one-on-one and small group networking. And now, the bonus for attending. Special Social and Networking Attraction. On Sunday afternoon, we'll journey to the Southfork Ranch, home of the "Dallas" television series. Here we will tour the famous Ewing Mansion, the Dallas Museum, be entertained and feast on old-fashioned Texas barbecue, potato salad, beans and apple cobbler. Bring a Friend. Your partner, spouse, friend or companion is encouraged to attend the conference at a very attractive reduced rate that includes all functions, meals and events. Do bring that special person with you and make this conference even more memorable.
July 2000
Dear friends of personal history preservation, After many months of investigation, planning and organizing, I am delighted to invite you to the biggest and best Association of Personal Historians (APH) networking conference yet... Memoirs for a Millennium! The conference will be held over the first weekend in November 2000 at the Omni Dallas Park West Hotel, a first-class facility conveniently located near both Dallas airports and Dallas' finest restaurants, clubs and renowned shopping. Free transportation to and from both airports will be provided for each guest. We are proud this year to offer a comprehensive series of workshops (breakout sessions) tailored to the personal history professional with tracks appropriate for beginners, those who have more experience, and an additional series of special interest topics. In addition, attendees will enjoy presentations by several exceptional keynote speakers from our field. Susan Wittig Albert, noted author and founder of Story Circle Network, will speak at a special reception on Friday evening, Nov. 3. Susan has written and published numerous children's books and mystery novels as well as her recent "Writing From Life," an excellent guide for anyone interested in writing their life story. Lettice Stuart of Portraits In Words, our very own celebrity personal historian who appeared in groundbreaking articles in Good Housekeeping and the Wall Street Journal last year, will address the conference on Friday morning. Noted oral historian Charles Morrisey will discuss professional guidelines during the same program. Thomas Ainlay of Legacy Memoirs, international publisher, will offer a presentation on marketing techniques Monday morning. Lots of new schmoozing opportunities will also be available this year. In addition to a glitzy reception Friday evening, a leisurely luncheon Saturday, and a delightful brunch Sunday morning, a Texas-style barbecue will be enjoyed by everyone on Sunday evening at the world-famous Southfork Ranch, home of the television series "Dallas." Guests will be transported to the ranch for a tour of the "Ewing Mansion" and an evening of old-fashioned western fun including line-dance instruction and many other surprises. You can't afford to miss Memoirs for a Millennium. There will be no better opportunity for knowledge and networking in our chosen field, and you'll love our Texas fall weather. I look forward to seeing all of you there! Y'all come, Paula S. Yost
