The Association of Personal Historians Inc. (APH) welcomes participation at its 12th annual conference by interested services, agencies and commercial ventures in support of the preservation of personal, family, corporate and community stories and histories.

The conference will be held over four days (Wednesday evening, October 4 through noon, Sunday, October 8, 2006) at the Portland Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center in Portland, Oregon. APH expects more than 200 entrepreneurial personal historians to attend the conference itself, and many additional people to attend the free Town Square/Community Forum event in the Exhibit Hall Saturday afternoon, October 7, 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Town Square: an organized display of personal history products created by APH members. Using completed books, videos, CDs, DVDs and other creative formats, members of the APH will offer the general public ideas and the opportunity to view samples of personal histories as encouragement to find appropriate ways to record and preserve their life stories and precious memories. Vendor tables will be set up in a central area.

Community Forum: a series of public presentations by four professional personal historians on the power of life stories, genealogy, ethical wills, and preserving family heirlooms. The Exhibit Hall Town Square venue will be a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the materials and services that personal historians (and others who preserve history) need in their work.

APH has a number of ways you can participate:

  • Advertise on the APH Website anytime prior to the conference (through Sept. 15)
  • Advertise in the conference final program (deadline Sept. 2)
  • Advertise in the Town Square/Community Forum flier (deadline Sept. 2)
  • Reserve table(s) at Town Square and get an online link to your website (deadline Sept. 2)
  • Demonstrate your products or services in a highlighted area at Town Square (deadline for notifying us is Sept. 2)
  • Sponsor part of the cost of conference registration materials (printed program, tote bags, name tags, etc.) and receive free ads, vendor space, other benefits depending on the size of your sponsorship. (Deadline for notifying us is Sept. 2) Please contact for specific details.

Note 1: Send ad copy in .tiff or .eps format for printing. We can convert for web use. Please send electronic file to and questions to same email address.

Note 2: Conference attendees selling or promoting products may reserve tables when registering for the conference. However, do not reserve table space on both the Advertisement and Vendor Table Reservation Form and the conference registration form!

Note 3: APH members who wish to use free tables to display their products but not promote or sell them do not need to reserve a table. There will be a special area of the Exhibit Hall set aside for members to show what they have accomplished.
